100 Years of Blue & Gold: A Pictorial History of Cal Football - Nick Peters

"100 Years (1882-1982) of Blue & Gold: A Pictorial History of Cal Football" by Nick Peters.  "By the time Butch Cassidy and his Hole-in-the-Wall Gang were routed by the Pinkertons, the University of California had been fielding a football team for 20 years. Of course, the Bay Area hardly was the "Wild West" by 1882, when Cal first took on off-campus rival. Still, easterners did not take West Coast football seriously until the 1920s. By that time, Cal had been playing nearly 40 years, had racked up some of its biggest wins, had produced some of its brightest stars and had laid the groundwork for one of college football's proudest traditions."
