Walter Krawiec Sr.


WALTER KRAWIEC SR. (1889-1982)

Walter Krawiec was born in Poland in 1889, came to Chicago in 1892 and was employed at the Polish Daily News in 1913. While there, he attended the Chicago Art Institute and studied under Charles Clarkson Coleman. He worked for the newspaper for 60 years and exhibited frequently at the Chicago Art Institute and Chicago galleries.

He exhibited at the National Academy of Design, the Pennsylvania Academy and the Carnegie Institute.

He was married to the artist Harriet Krawiec (1894-1968) and his son Walter Krawiec Jr. was also an artist.
